Spring Opening of Pool

Occasionally I get a call from a board member wanting to know why we are opening the pool a week or two before Memorial Day. The reason for this is primarily because it takes a few days to open a pool, we have multiple pools to open, and most importantly, we want to make sure all the equipment is working properly. When a pool has been idle all winter, it tends to act like an old automobile that has not been started in months and sat out all winter. It may not start right up, it may start up and run for a day then break down. Also, it takes a few days to get the pool temperature to 82-83 degrees.

I wish we could show up the day before, turn a switch, and be up and running...I can only wish though.
